Our craftsmen start with selected native hides which are tanned using natural vegetable extracts. This type of tanning not only produces a better quality leather than chrome tanning, it is also 100% safer for the environment. The result is a leather that looks, feels, and performs better than any we've ever used! When looking through our online catalog, you will notice different names for the leather used in our products. Latigo leather is used to make many of our standard obedience leashes and collars. Latigo is a soft, flexible leather - perfect for everyday use. It is available in burgundy and black. You will notice some stretch to this kind of leather. An extra heavy duty latigo leather is used to make our harnesses, pro leashes and police K-9 leashes. Also quite popular is our harness leather. The leashes made from this type of leather are a little stiffer, but soften and become very flexible with use. You will notice some difference of color between batches, varying from a very light to a deeper tan. This leather darkens with use. Besides leashes, this leather is also used to make some of our harnesses and heavy duty collars. Our newest addition to our leather choices is the English Bridle leather. It is a rich, dark color and is a stiffer leather, very similar to the harness leather. It also softens with use. Some of our leashes, most of our training tabs, and some of our harnesses are available in this leather.
